SCADAPack Controllers

Problem

I want communicate directly from my laptop to the SCADAPack 32, via the ethernet port on my laptop. I am using the default settings for the SCADAPack 32. What do I need to setup, to get communications working?

Environment

SCADAPack 32
SCADAPack 350
TCP/IP
LAN
TelePACE Studio

Fix

To communicate with the SCADAPack 32/350 using ethernet you will need to:

1. Use TelePACE Studio, and a direct serial connection, and set the SCADAPack 32 for an IP address and TCP settings. The TCP settings are at default and will work for most situations. The IP address is important as the default setting is 0.0.0.0

2. Next you will need a cross over Ethernet cable to connect your PC to the SCADAPack 32.

3. You will need to set the IP address of your PC to one that will match the SCADAPack 32. For Example:

SCADAPack 32; IP = 10.10.10.5, Subnet Mask = 255.0.0.0, Gateway = 0.0.0.0

PC; IP = 10.10.10.10, Subnet Mask = 255.0.0.0, Gateway = 0.0.0.0

The TelePACE Studio User Manual, contain the information for connecting to the Ethernet port on the SCADAPack 32/350.

    Hi,

What about if I want to use a ISaGraf? How should I make the communication via Ethernet.

Using ISaGRAF with a controller with a LAN port (SP32, SP350, etc...), you will also need to assign an IP address serially or via USB before being able to connect over IP.

With a suitable controller type, from the Programs window:
    1. Select Tools > Controller > Controller IP. Under LAN Port, assign IP addres and Subnet Mask.
    2. To connect your PC direct to LAN port of SCADAPack, you will need either a crossover cable or going through a switch.
    3. Your PC's IP address will also need to fall within the SCADAPack's subnet mask. You may need to assign your PC a new address.
    4. Debug > Link Setup

    • Make sure the communication port is set for TeleBUS Driver
    • Select Setup, then Modbus/TCP and select Configure
    • for Host Network Details, use the new IP address of your controller.
