The Vision products have been found to be susceptible to degradation by UV exposure and can fail if not properly protected. As a result Control Microsystems has developed a UV resistant integrated cover-keypad overlay and a standalone shield for use under outdoor installations. The shield is available as a stand alone product.
Control Microsystems has also changed the warranty conditions for all Vision products to state that the warranty is void if the Vision product is installed outdoors without the shield. However, all products sold prior to January 4, 2007 will be honored with the original warranty regardless of UV degradation failure. Products sold after this date are subject to the new warranty provisions.

Discounted Vision Upgrade Program:

For customers with existing Vision installations, a discounted Vision Upgrade Program has been developed to facilitate the processing of damaged and returned units, and to proactively attend to units that have not failed in the field, but are exposed to the outdoor environment. Under this program, new UV-protected Vision units are exchanged with existing units for warranty products. Alternately, Vision shields and keypads are available for out of warranty units where the customers can perform the upgrades themselves.
