ClearSCADA

When upgrading ClearSCADA from an older version to ClearSCADA 2009 R1, the metadata (custom database fields) will automatically be upgraded to suit the new format for storage of these fields. The configuration of these fields will be imported from the registry and converted into the new ClearSCADAMetadata.xml file.

If you are installing ClearSCADA 2009 on a new machine (i.e. one where ClearSCADA has not been installed previously) and are importing a database from an older version of ClearSCADA, then please follow the steps below to ensure that ClearSCADA will have the appropriate metadata information available during the upgrade process.

Details

  • On the machine running the older version of ClearSCADA, run the program regedit.
  • Browse to the key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Serck Controls\SCX6\Metadata"
  • Export this key using the Export option from the File menu
  • Shutdown the ClearSCADA 2009 server.
  • Delete the "ClearSCADAMetadata.xml" file, if present. (Please note that deleting the "ClearSCADAMetadata.xml" will also delete any new Metadata fields that may have been created.)
  • Check the location "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Serck Controls\SCX6\Metadata" in the Registry for the key "MetadataOld" and delete this, if present.
  • Run the .reg file that was created from the machine with the old ClearSCADA version. This will import the Metadata Registry entries.
  • Check that the "Metadata" key has been created in the Registry.
  • Start the ClearSCADA server.
